The team, led by Dr. Susumu Tachi, from Keio University, is now adapting their findings to help pilots, drivers, doctors and others. Retro-reflective projection technology uses a computer, a video camera and projector to shine background images onto the front of a subject wearing specialised clothing, creating the illusion of invisibility. What makes the technology unique is a fabric made of glass beads only 50 microns wide, which can reflect light directly back at the source, much like the screen in a cinema. Viewed from near the light source, the projection is bright even in broad daylight, and researchers say the material can be applied to almost anything. In the short term, the team sees usage in car interiors, airplanes and helicopters. They say blind spots could be eliminated and accidents and hard landings avoided by making walls seemingly transparent. The eventual goal though is to create an “augmented reality” that allows anyone to easily see information on real world objects. [Dr. Susumu Tachi, Keio University]: “Looking to the future, instead of glasses, people could wear this and it would act as a navigation system. It could also tell you who someone is, if you meet them around town.” In the few years since the technology’s …

Wow, the things Japanese are coming up with now a days.
1:10 hericopter, lmao.

Now the next step is to use that cloth without using a prjector
BEWARE! Solid Snake will ninja you… literally.
Snipers….
@TropicalNeon yeah , and a real solid snake o.O
chuck norris is beginning to piss me off!
@D0DGERA I think it only works on things that are really close to the material. The way it works has something to do with light and there’s extremely little light behind the tv. So it wouldn’t make sense if you could see through it. If you listened properly the guy said “material applied to anything”…. ‘applied’ means.. the material is placed on what you want to be transparent.
In other news, Japan creates “just about the coolest thing ever”, but all the internet can do is bitch about it.
Japan whould get more land space… that way they can increase in numbers and become the future of our world…
This is bs because if you watch at the end how come it goes through the guys head and not the television behind him, he is mass and a physical object just like any object in this world yet this cloth that was infront of him saw straight through, its bullshit.
SOLID SNAKE?!?!
the only problem with this is that it only looks invisible through special cameras… otherwise it just looks black.
AWESOME!! i want one.
Yeah, I could see keeping sniper casualties down on a military installation with this. Seems relatively cost prohibitive though.
You commenters are fucking pitiful
I thought real invisible.. xDD

Nona Hendryx is still kicking ass in live concert. Saw her perform on Cyndi Laupers True Colors tour along with the B/52′s. I heard the MC state that a CD of her recent live performances was to be released and this was back in 2009. Still no word of any such recording. She’s the REAL thing!
@ChrisOtheBigC Well it is about time! I think the fact that Nona and Labelle had songs on the “Precious” soundtrack is helping to generate some interest. Nona’s 1977 solo debut is stellar and got rave reviews–but nobody knew how to market her as a rock artist. Sad.
@Noodleydoo Hey man, THANK YOU! Great, informative post. I really enjoyed it. I do have some good news: the “NONA HENDRYX” lp is out on cd September 28, 2010. With any luck “NONA” and the others will follow!
All the best,
Chris
@ChrisOtheBigC I dated a DJ back during Nona’s RCA years, and he said DJ’s called the company “RCA Victim” because all they promoted was Hall and Oats, leaving the rest of the artists adrift. That being said, Nona’s 1983 stayed on the black charts for months, all off word of mouth. David Bowie played the record during intermission on his “Serious Moonlight” tour.
Have always loved this. 5*
Nona Hendryx should have been HUGE! If she had ever had some real record company MUSCLE behind her, she could have given endless forgotten divas a run for their money.
Anyway, I love the tracks she cut with Material. They were a hell of a great band!
Back when Material was a band, not Bill Laswell & respected/respectable employees.
Yet another great Bill Laswell associated project!!!
Thx for posting!!!!!
